Giving the much-loved VW Golf MK5 1.9 TDi the SuperPro treatment!

The following words are by SuperPro Europe staff member Mel who fitted a complete set of SuperPro bushes, anti-roll bars and alloy control arms to her own daily driver. As great as Golfs are, my 15-year-old 1.9 PD130 with 140,000 miles on the clock was really starting to show its age as well as having common Golf handling snags.

Not wanting to sell the dear old girl, fitting SuperPro was the ideal solution. We went all-out on this car by fitting the SuperPro handling package (VAG-MK52WD-KIT) with adjustable anti-roll bars front and rear, fully adjustable heavy-duty drop links, Alloy control arms with adjustable ball joints, caster and anti-lift front bush kit plus full rear bush kit.

To say the car now feels great is an understatement!

The days of nose-diving under braking and lifting under acceleration are long gone. The steering is so much more responsive with total feedback from the road as well as massively improved cornering, you can literally put the car exactly where you want it and it just does it, no body-roll or dragging you in-and-out of potholes, lorry lines etc. The tired old Golf has become a joy to drive again and actually handles better than a MK7 GTD in my opinion.

The PD130 was such a great car to drive back in its day and, with help from the SuperPro kit, the car has been given a new lease of life, without any compromise on comfort or noise, vibration or harshness (NVH).

This Golf is my daily drive and it makes me smile every time I get in it.

 

Because handling has been improved so much, and without making the ride harsh or noisy, Mel is now looking at what she can do with the springs and dampers to improve things even further...we'll update you with more soon...
